Things to Remember About Your Wedding-Dress Alterations
No matter what size you may wear and no matter what wedding dress design you want, wedding dress alterations will be needed. What are some of the most important things to keep in mind when it comes to this? Read on and find out more, so that you can be prepared for it when the moment comes.
Budget planning. When planning your wedding budget, make sure to take into consideration the fact that wedding dress alterations are almost always charged as “extras” – so you will have to add this to the initial price of the dress too. Consider this from the very beginning and you will not have any unpleasant surprises later on.

Timing. In general, it takes about 2-3 fittings to get a wedding dress perfect for your body. These fittings are done over the course of a few weeks, but the last one should never be later than 2 weeks before the Big Day. To have enough time for the wedding dress search and for the fittings, it is more than recommended that you start shopping about 10 months before the wedding day.
Last fitting. Your last fitting is the most important one, so you should bring everything you need with you. This includes your shoes (so that the seamstress knows exactly how tall you will be on your wedding day), the undergarments, the jewelry, the veil and all the other accessories.
Weight loss. If you want to lose weight before the wedding, don’t buy a smaller-sized dress for your “goal weight”. Even if you are very strict about your diet, you still cannot predict exactly how much you will lose before the wedding day – and it is much easier to “shrink” a larger dress than to increase the size of a smaller dress.
