How to choose your Wedding Reception Music
Your wedding day is a big moment indeed – and not just for you, but for those who will be there for you too. Attending to every single guest’s needs can be quite troublesome though, especially if you have invited lots of people to your wedding. From the food you will serve to the ambiance your décor will create, everything will matter.
But sometimes, nothing matters more than the music that is played at the reception. Don’t be fooled into believing that making a playlist for a wedding is an easy job though! As you will learn pretty soon, satisfying all of your guests’ tastes can be quite tricky. This is why we have gathered a small list of tips to help you through this:
Think of music for all ages. From the younger guests who will enjoy Katy Perry and Rihanna to the middle-aged people who will love a good 80s’ ballad, everyone has to get on the dance floor. Thus, you should make sure there’s music for every type of guest you will have.
Also, remember to cover for almost every genre possible: 60s, Rock’n’Roll, Blues, Disco, Electronic, RNB, Hip Hop, and Metal.
Do take into consideration group dances (such as Macarena). However, one or two group dance songs can help you get people off their seats and on the dance floor.
Don’t forget about choosing songs for your special dances too. The first dance, the mother-son dance, the father-daughter dance – all these moments are really important at a wedding.
Even more, don’t forget to choose some songs for tossing the bouquet, cutting the cake and for leaving the reception as well! Usually, these songs are upbeat and full of energy, so don’t be afraid to go for something fun (e.g. “All the Single Ladies” for tossing the bouquet).
